Does Corroseal work? Common problems with Corroseal

April 25, 2022 By Kurt Gorman Leave a Comment

The Corroseal rust converter is a water-based paint that comes in one can, so you don’t have to worry about getting the right primer and putty.

It’s good for all kinds of metal surfaces, like boats and cars, but it’s especially useful if you’re restoring an old piece of furniture or something else with intricate detail. It’s also great for people who want to extend the life of the product they’re using by protecting it from corrosion. And since it’s water-based, this means there will be no risk of fire or toxic fumes when applying.

As long as you follow the application instructions on the can and don’t apply too much at once (8-10 mils wet for 200-250 sq ft), you should have no problem using this product. The one downside is that it can be difficult to remove if you change your mind about the color or want to repaint over it, so make sure you’re certain before you apply Corroseal.

Yes, it works. But you should be really careful while applying it because a bad application will result in an ugly mess.

I was really excited to try out this new Corroseal product. I had seen a lot of good reviews online, and my trailer was in desperate need of some TLC. I pressure cleaned it and did some light sanding, then began applying it. The instructions said to let it dry for 24 hours, so I left it outside to cure in the Florida sun.

After a day had passed, I went outside to take a look at my work. And I was absolutely blown away! The trailer looked brand new! The rust was gone, the paint was shiny, and it even smelled good! I couldn’t believe how well this product worked.

I’m so happy with the results that I’m definitely going to use it on all my metal surfaces from now on. It’s an amazing product that really works wonders.

Common problems with Corroseal

The other day I was curious to see how it would work on her old metal patio furniture. So I followed the instructions on the can and applied the Corroseal at 8-10 mils wet.

I waited impatiently for the 24 hours it said it would take to dry before applying the primer. But when I came back outside after just 12 hours, the paint had already bubbled up! It looked like my patio furniture was going to be a disaster. I was so frustrated and angry that I ended up throwing all the furniture away. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

The main problem people have with Corroseal is that it’s difficult to remove if you change your mind about the color or want to repaint over it. Make sure you’re certain before you apply Corroseal.

How to apply Corroseal

The best way to apply it is with a brush, roller, or sprayer. Make sure you follow the application instructions on the can and don’t apply too much at once (8-10 mils wet for 200-250 sq ft).

If you’re applying Corroseal to an old piece of furniture or something else with intricate detail, it’s best to use a brush. There are two ways to protect metal equipment from rust and corrosion. You can use a roller or a sprayer.

What’s the product made of?

Corroseal is a water-based paint that contains latex metal primer. It’s non-flammable and non-corrosive, and it cleans up with just soap and water.

How to fix common problems

If you’re having trouble with Corroseal, here are a few tips to help you fix common problems:

  • If the paint is bubbling up, you probably applied too much at once. Wait for the paint to dry completely, then sand it down and try again.
  • If the paint is difficult to remove, you can use a chemical stripper or heat gun to remove it.
  • If you’re not happy with the color, you can repaint over Corroseal with any latex paint.

Corroseal comes in one can, so you don’t have to worry about getting the right primer and putty.

It is good for all kinds of metal surfaces, like boats and cars, but it’s especially useful if you’re restoring an old piece of furniture or something else with intricate detail. It’s also great for people who want to extend the life of the product they’re using by protecting it from corrosion.

The one downside is that it can be difficult to remove if you change your mind about the color or want to repaint over it, so make sure you’re certain before you apply.

Alternatives to Corroseal

If you’re not sure if Corroseal is appropriate for you, consider the following alternatives:

Rust Converter

This is a similar product to Corroseal, but it’s specifically designed to convert rust into a paintable surface.

Paint-On Rust Protection

This is another alternative to Corroseal that works in a similar way.

Rust Encapsulator

This is a good option if you want to prevent rust from forming in the first place.

No matter what alternative you choose, make sure you follow the instructions carefully and don’t apply too much at once.
